Since 1985, Demo Credit Union has helped local people save regularly, borrow sensibly, and keep money working in our community.
Demo Credit Union began in 1985 when a small group of neighbours started saving together in a church hall, pooling their money so that any of them could borrow at a fair rate when times were tight. From those first forty members and a cash box, we've grown into a modern, regulated financial co-operative serving thousands of members - but the idea is exactly the same: people helping people.
We're not a bank. We have no external shareholders and no profit targets. Every pound saved with us is lent to other members at fair rates, and any surplus we make is returned to members as an annual dividend or reinvested in better services.
Like all credit unions, membership is based on a "common bond" - something our members share. Ours covers anyone who lives or works in our local area, along with employees of our payroll partner organisations. If that's you, you're eligible to join today.
Demo Credit Union is (for the purposes of this demo) authorised by the Prudential Regulation Authority and regulated by the Financial Conduct Authority and the Prudential Regulation Authority. Member savings are protected up to £85,000 by the Financial Services Compensation Scheme (FSCS).
